About Me

I grew up with a Mom who could make adorable baby quilts for every baby shower, and a great-grandma who had some fantastic crochet skills (and quilting talent, too!).  I would go through phases of craftiness while growing up.  I always wanted to take Home Ec, but I went to a small school with limited scheduling flexibilities, so I took the chemistry instead.

So where did I learn to do what I do?  Actually I learned how to crochet from a guy in the dorms freshman year.  No Joke.  I learned how to make a chain and single crochet from him.  The rest I just learned from reading patterns and books.  You Tube wasn't around that I knew of then, but somehow it all made sense to me.

Sewing has taken longer for me, but lately it just has been clicking and it is so much fun!  My first real project was a Block of the Month Quilt from JoAnn's and I got bored about one block into it.  My Mom helped pick out my terrible stitches and put it together for me.  So I put away my machine for a little while.

Then I made some curtains, and a few baby quilts, and slowly I was getting more and more confidence.  Now I examine clothes all the time to see how they are constructed, and what seams are made first.

I started my blogging on A Day in the Life of the Hooks, which was a family blog that I slowly started to see my crafting take over.  I decided to make a new blog for my crafty adventures.  Why Hot Pink and Glitter Glue?  Why not?  No, really...I have three girls and no color seems to excite them as much as hot pink, and there is not crafting medium more seductive to a kid then glitter glue...bonus points if it is pink!
